So my 13 year old brother has "Pectus Excavatum" which is basically a "built-in-cereal-bowl" (as we like to call it) in his chest...
(...and you thought I was kidding...)
Turns out this awesome gift isn't so awesome because it get deeper and deeper as he gets older and its making his sternum collapse, it's pushing on his lungs and maybe a little bit on his heart, he's had a hard time breathing before and he also gets worn out a lot faster.
No big deal.
Okay fine, it is.
He's in the hospital right now and will be for the next week. What they're doing is inserting this ...18''(?)... nickel bar into his chest so it can chill there for the next 3ish years until all the tissuey stuff can harden around the bar, then they'll go remove the bar and he'll be normal.
(...That's right, I know how to speak technical like a doctor.)
So we'll be waiting on the after pictures for awhile, but enjoy the before photos and the pre-surgery photos sent from Chris' iphone.
Where does he hide his stomach!? Beats me. |
Do note the bar that Nathan is holding will be inside of him.
He made it out! |
So there you have it. My brother is doped up on drugs, wearing a backwards cape, and hogging all the attention. ;) Oh yeah, and the 3rd to last photo is our Bishop being the cool anesthesiologist (BOOM. Spelled it right on the first go! Mini-victory.) that he is!
LOVE YOU LIL BRO!
